Join our award-winning Sweet Adelines International show chorus and learn the art of a cappella 4-part barbershop harmony. This type of harmony is a style of unaccompanied singing with three voices tenor, baritone and bass harmonizing to the lead. The lead usually sings the melody with the tenor harmonizing above the lead. The bass sings the lowest harmony notes and the baritone sings either above or below the lead to make the chords that give barbershop its distinctive full sound. Barbershop harmony and jazz are the only recognized original American music art forms.
We offer women from all walks of life the opportunity, in a friendly atmosphere, to learn, sing and perform barbershop and contemporary music. Our repertoire includes many ballads, Broadway show tunes, rhythm & blues and contemporary music along with exciting choreography.
How to Join Us
We are interested in adding talented, ambitious, female vocalists to our membership. The ability to read music is not necessary; learning CDs are provided. However, good vocal skills are required in order to maintain our current level of excellence. Auditions are held weekly following an introductory period and knowledge of an audition piece which will be provided by the chorus.
If you are interested in enhancing your vocal skills, preserving the barbershop art form and performing to many audiences throughout the year, come to a rehearsal any Monday evening and discover the joyful noise of singing a cappella 4 part harmony barbershop style.
We rehearse in St. Camillus Church hall, 1175 Concord Turnpike (directly off Rte 2, Exit 57) in Arlington, MA. (For rehearsal directions Click Here)
